Light vs Darkness

And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend [overcome] it.
(John 1:5 NKJV)

Who is Jesus?

Jesus himself is the embodiment of the full expression of God’s limit-less grace to mankind. He is the word of God and the light of the world; fully radiant, impeccable and divinely awesome. Always at its zenith, casting no shadow of turning. The Son of God, who’s also the sun of righteousness, met with the prince of evil at the cross of Mount Calvary, to a great demonstration of power against evil. Light combated darkness and won.

Jesus then became the Saviour of humanity.

Satan?

Satan himself is the beginning of evil and the end of it. The dark lord, the prince of the power of the air. The old serpent and the ancient dragon. The father of deception and lies. The accuser of the brethren. The master of all arts of evil and sin. Evil is sin fully grown. If sin is the baby, evil is the adult.

The question is which side are you on? Remember there is no neutral side, either you’re with God or not.

Light vs darkness

Behold, the full essence of light fused in an unquantifiable energy of grace, beaming heavily strong, against the full weight of evil, mingled in thick darkness.

It would be a great showdown on Mount Calvary.

Both the hordes of hell & hades (wicked Spirits of the underworld), the great cloud of witnesses & the mighty angelic hosts of heaven were fully aware and were permitted to watch as the audiences from the different locations of the two kingdoms.

Just about one thousand years before Jesus Christ, a similar incident had occurred. A prophet of God by the name Elijah the tishbite, rose to withstand power of evil through the might of the Holy Spirit with the fire of God. It was a very similar showdown; light versus darkness, on Mount Carmel.

The prophet Elijah representing the light and grace. A man of God with fiery faith. He had commanded that the Heaven be closed, so that there would be no rain except his words be revoked which didn’t happen until three and a half years later. Elijah had no tolerance for sin and wickedness and he possessed an undefiled faith and an unquestionable character of God’s chastity.

The bible records of Elijah;

Elijah was a man with a nature like ours [with the same physical, mental, and spiritual limitations and shortcomings], and he prayed [a]intensely for it not to rain, and it did not rain on the earth for three years and six months. 18 Then he prayed again, and the sky gave rain and the land produced its crops [as usual].
James 5:17-19 (AMP)

8 They answered him, “He was a hairy man with a [wide] leather band bound around his loins.” And Ahaziah said, “It is Elijah the Tishbite.”
2 kings 1:8 (AMP)

While the prophets of Baal were representing the dark side (Baal is the shortform of Baal-Zebub meaning: the chief of demons). So these were prophets serving the master of demons.

And in both events, light defeated darkness, blood was spilled, the cost were high, but grace won over sin. Grace and Righteousness prevailed and took dominion over sin. The power of sin and darkness was crushed for all eternity. The cross of calvary was the final showdown. It was finished!

God has given us an opportunity to rule with Christ together over the powers of darkness

The Bible said ”He (Jesus Christ) spoiled principalities and powers and made a public show of them (all forms of evil). It was a mighty victory. The power of grace, once again was demonstrating it’s superiority over sin and darkness.

It’s good to know there are two forces operating in the universe. The force of light of God and the force of darkness of the evil one. Jesus had defeated the master of evil on the cross and spoiled principalities and powers in the hades (underworld).

But before God will bring the full judgment upon evil (which is complete annihilation to imprisonment in the Abyss and lake of fire), God has given us an opportunity to rule with Christ together over the powers of darkness. And to demonstrate the victory of Jesus and the superiority of light over darkness again and again.

The Bible declares:

But to as many as did receive and welcome Him, He gave the right [the authority, the privilege] to become children of God, that is, to those who believe in (adhere to, trust in, and rely on) His name. John 1:12 (AMP)

And if [we are His] children, [then we are His] heirs also: heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ [sharing His spiritual blessing and inheritance], if indeed we share in His suffering so that we may also share in His glory.
Romans 8:17 (AMP)
